Prosecution Experience

Legal Intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha, Nebraska, 1997-1998. Authored legal briefs for federal district & appellate courts, and helped prosecute cases under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Assistant County Attorney, Lamar County, Texas, 1998-2000. Served as chief misdemeanor prosecutor and assisted with felony criminal trials.

Assistant District Attorney, Victoria County, 2000-2001. As Chief of the Misdemeanor Section, was responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor, juvenile, and hot check cases, along with supervising other misdemeanor prosecutors.

Assistant District Attorney, Victoria County, 2001-2003. Narcotics prosecutor responsible for prosecuting felony drug and intoxication crimes, overseeing seizures and forfeitures from drug cases. In addition to narcotics, also prosecuted sex crimes from 2002-2003.

Assistant District Attorney, Victoria County, 2003. Major felony crimes prosecutor responsible for handling all murder and capital murder cases. Successfully tried six murder cases to juries in a six-month period.

First Assistant District Attorney, Victoria County, Texas, 2003-2004. Responsible for coordinating prosecution of criminal and civil cases by the D.A.’s Office, as well as overseeing seven prosecutors.
