The Victoria County District Attorney supervises a staff of 30 employees, including 10 attorneys.

Since Tyler took office in 2007, Victoria County prosecutors take felony criminal cases to jury trial at nearly three times the statewide rate, with a higher overall conviction rate than the Texas rate.

Under Tyler’s leadership, the D.A.’s Office takes misdemeanor cases to jury trial at nearly twice the statewide rate, with a higher overall conviction rate than the Texas rate.

For family violence crimes, since September of 2010 Victoria County prosecutors have taken cases to jury trial at nearly twice the statewide rate, with a higher overall conviction rate than the Texas rate.

For cases involving indecency or sexual assault of children, since September of 2010 Victoria County prosecutors have taken cases to jury trial at over three times the statewide rate with around a 10% higher overall conviction rate than the Texas rate.

Since becoming District Attorney in 2007, Tyler and the team at the D.A.’s Office have worked hard to make the office more efficient and effective while also saving taxpayers money.

The D.A.’s Office uses cash seized from drug dealers and criminals to fund a large part of the office’s budget instead of asking the taxpayers for money. This forfeiture money also assists the D.A.’s Office in its efforts to equip and train law enforcement officers.

In this year’s 2018 budget for the District Attorney’s Office, cash and property seized and forfeited from criminals is funding 100% of the operating costs for the D.A.’s Office, along with 12% of the payroll costs for the office. This greatly reduces the net cost to taxpayers for operations and employees at the D.A.’s Office.

In 2017, the District Attorney’s Office helped generate nearly $900,000 in revenues for Victoria County through fines and forfeiting bonds of criminal defendants who didn’t show up for court.
